چکیده
Objective To compare the incidence of oropharyngeal candidiasis (OC), or thrush, in renal transplant recipients receiving nystatin versus no antifungal prophylaxis. Methods This was a single-center, retrospective, non-inferiority study adult (RTRs) who received for 30 days OC prophylaxis (nystatin group) therapy (No PPX group). The primary outcome within 3 months post-transplant. Secondary outcomes included time to occurrence and severity OC. pre-specified margin 10%. Results post-transplant among 257 RTRs 7.8% (10/128) No group 4.7% (6/129) group, risk difference 3.2% (95% CI, ?2.7% 9.1%, P = .04). median 7.5 (IQR 6.3-34.3 days) 9.5 5.3-30.5 (P .64). Esophageal observed 10% (1/10) with compared 16.7% (1/6) 1.00). All achieved symptom resolution fluconazole and/or nystatin. Two patients required readmission decreased oral intake, diagnosed treated during their hospital day. Conclusions In this retrospective RTRs, absence demonstrated 30-day at reducing transplant. may not be warranted after

Outcomes of antifungal prophylaxis in high-risk liver transplant recipients.
Antifungal prophylaxis for liver transplant recipients (LTRs) is common among patients considered at high risk of infection, but optimal prophylaxis duration and drug has not been defined. This study aimed to assess the effects of 14 days of antifungal therapy prophylaxis in reducing proven invasive fungal infections (IFI) in high-risk subjects. Eligible subjects who met 2 or more risk criteria...

Although the overall incidence of fungal infections in liver transplant recipients has declined, these infections still contribute significantly to the morbidity and mortality of patients with risk factors for infection. Although antifungal prophylaxis has been widely studied and practiced, no consensus exists on which patients should receive prophylaxis, with which agent, and for what duration...

ABSTRACT Background: Correction of the uremic state by a functioning allograft often restores fertility in women of reproductive age. The rate of fertility significantly differs between industrial countries, developing and middle east countries. On the other hand the results of pregnancy in Kidney Transplantation (KTP) patients are significantly better than hemodialysis patients, and pregnancy...
متن کاملOropharyngeal candidiasis and resistance to antifungal drugs in patients receiving radiation for head and neck cancer
BACKGROUND: Oropharyngeal candidiasis is a common infection in patient receiving radiotherapy for head and neck cancer. Accurate and rapid identification of candida species is very important in clinical laboratory, because the incidence of candidiasis continues to rise after radiotherapy. The genus Candida has about 154 species that show different level of resistance to antifungal drugs and hav...
متن کاملVoriconazole as secondary antifungal prophylaxis in stem cell transplant recipients.
A recently published editorial by Dr. Girmenia addressed the difficult issue of preventing invasive fungal disease in hematology patients. The author concluded that several questions remained unanswered concerning the use of secondary antifungal prophylaxis in this setting. We agree with Dr. Girmenia that most previous reports on secondary antifungal prophylaxis were retrospective, uncontrolled...
